About Beelad

Beelad (بلاد) means "countries" in Arabic. It is a free reference site with a page for each of 196 countries, in English, French, Spanish, Arabic and Hindi.

What Beelad covers

The 196 countries are the 193 member states of the United Nations plus Vatican City, Kosovo and Taiwan. Palestine does not have a page yet.

Each country page shows the capital, population, area, currency and its ISO 4217 code, calling code, ISO 3166-1 codes (alpha-2, alpha-3 and numeric), internet domain, standard time offset, main languages and religion, plus figures in context: population density and its rank, share of world population, the countries closest in size and population, and which countries share the same currency or calling code.

Continent pages list and sort the countries of each continent, and the search page finds a country by name or capital. The blog explains the standards and rankings behind the data: country codes, calling codes, currencies, time zones, borders and languages.

Cecile is a software engineer with over a decade of experience building client-side JavaScript applications and open-source utilities. That experience shapes every Vyziotek site: tools that run in your own browser, keep your data on your device, and don't ask you to sign up for anything.

Cecile built CoolTexTool to offer secure, zero-tracking text utilities, and writes and edits Beelad's articles and country data, checking figures against ISO, UN and national statistics sources and keeping the French, Spanish, Arabic and Hindi editions consistent with the English ones.

How we check our articles

  1. Primary sources first. Facts come from the bodies that define them: ISO for country and currency codes, the ITU for calling codes, IANA for internet domains, the UN Statistics Division and UN DESA for regions and population, treaty texts and official government pages for legal facts. Every article ends with the sources we used.
  2. Numbers are computed, not typed. Rankings, percentages, unit conversions and date differences are calculated in code from the source data, and charts are drawn from the same data.
  3. One population source. Country populations use a single, dated source (UN World Population Prospects 2024, estimate for 1 July 2023), so pages can be compared with each other.
  4. Dates you can see. Each article shows when it was first published and when it was last updated. Facts that change, such as recognitions, capitals or currencies, are given with a date.
  5. Translations follow the facts. The French, Spanish, Arabic and Hindi editions carry the same verified figures as the English ones and are updated together.
  6. Tools and drafts. We use software tools, including AI assistants, for drafting, translation and data checks. Nothing is published until its figures have been checked against the cited sources.
  7. Corrections. If you find an error, tell us through the contact page. We fix it and update the article's date. The last full review of the blog and the country data was in October 2026.
